New Sea lock IJmuiden

After almost 100 years, the Noordersluid in IJmuiden needs to be replaced. A new, larger sea lock should improve the accessibility of the port of Amsterdam and stimulate the economy in the region by offering tide-independent space for the ever-expanding seagoing vessels. The new sea lock will be 70 meters wide, 500 meters long and 18 meters deep. The construction started in 2016 and the new sea lock will be available for shipping by the end of 2019. (source)
