Demand for sustainability changes the requirements

DEMAND FOR SUSTAINABILITY CHANGES THE REQUIREMENTS TECHNICAL STAFF MUST MEET

Finally. Good news. Focus on sustainability has grown into a completely new rising market. And that’s a positive thing, because new markets require new techniques, and thus they require new, highly trained people. Thus, there are plenty of opportunities for technical staff to set themselves apart. Go with the flow that this new demand for sustainability has brought about!

LEARNING FROM OTHER COUNTRIES

It is well known that Germany is roughly 15 years ahead of the Netherlands in terms of installation technology. For example, the use of heat pumps is already much more accepted there than it is in the Netherlands. The people there are more concerned with sustainability in general. The same goes for wind energy; the German government puts a lot of money into that industry. And this is reflected in the landscape: there are wind turbines everywhere, and many roofs have solar panels. A lot of these technologies are subsidised by the government. Although the Netherlands is behind in that respect, we are working to make up lost ground. Long story short: there will be a lot of work to be done in the near future. Because if people want to expand on their current home boiler or have solar panels installed on their roofs, they’ll need technical staff.

NEW TECHNOLOGY REQUIRES NEW TRAINING

New technologies require different knowledge, from one’s employees as well. We’re currently already training a lot of people at InAxtion. As a temping agency, we are obligated to spend 1.02% of our wage bill on training. However, we’ve made a deliberate choice to spend almost 3% of our entire wage bill on training. Of course it’s great that the demand for skilled technical staff will be increasing soon, but in order to be able to meet that demand, you do have to have skilled staff at the ready. That’s why we invest in training so much. If our staff have to install a new heat pump, it’s obviously preferable for them to know exactly how to do the job.
